Join our team

At Action for Neurodiversity, we’re passionate about providing specialist, neurodiversity-affirming counselling and emotional support.

As demand for our services continues to grow, we’re looking for qualified counsellors, student counsellors and emotional support workers who share our commitment to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Our Current Recruitment Priorities

Demand for neurodiversity-informed counselling and emotional support continues to grow, and many of the people who access our services benefit most from meeting a practitioner face to face.

We are currently giving preference to applications from practitioners who can offer in-person sessions at our Corby base alongside online video sessions.

We continue to welcome applications from practitioners who work exclusively online. While our immediate priority is to strengthen our face-to-face provision, we are happy to retain remote-only applications for consideration as our service needs develop.

Opportunities to Join Us

Qualified Counsellors

Self-employed opportunity

We welcome applications from qualified counsellors who are passionate about providing specialist, neurodiversity-affirming counselling.

Our counsellors support autistic people, people with other neurodivergent profiles, and those who live alongside or support them, offering a compassionate approach that recognises individual needs and experiences.

Counsellors join us on a self-employed basis and are expected to work with a minimum of two clients per week.

Student Counsellor Placements

Unpaid placement opportunity

We welcome applications from student counsellors who are looking to develop their skills and experience in a supportive, neurodiversity-affirming environment.

Our placements offer the opportunity to gain counselling experience with autistic and other neurodivergent clients, as well as people who live alongside or support them, with access to free in-house supervision and training.

Placements are unpaid, and student counsellors are expected to work with a minimum of two clients per week.

Emotional Support Workers

Self-employed opportunity

We welcome applications from emotional support workers (ESWs) who are passionate about supporting neurodivergent people.

Unlike counsellors, ESWs do not provide therapeutic counselling. Instead, they offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space where individuals can talk through everyday challenges, explore their feelings and feel heard and understood.

ESWs join us on a self-employed basis and are expected to support a minimum of two clients per week.

The Experience and Approach We Value

We are looking for practitioners with a strong experiential understanding of autism and neurodivergence, whether gained through sustained professional work with autistic and other neurodivergent people, through close personal or family experience, or because they are autistic or neurodivergent themselves.

We particularly welcome applications from autistic and neurodivergent practitioners. Lived experience brings an insight into our clients’ worlds that cannot be fully taught, and it lies at the heart of the neurodiversity-affirming practice we offer.

Equally important is a genuine commitment to neurodiversity-affirming practice, alongside an openness to learning and developing your knowledge and skills.

What We Offer

At Action for Neurodiversity, we are committed to creating a supportive environment where practitioners feel valued and have opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge.

All qualified counsellors, student counsellors and emotional support workers have access to free in-house supervision and training, helping them develop their confidence and understanding in neurodiversity-affirming practice.

Our Commitment to Equality and Inclusion

Action for Neurodiversity is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, both in the services we provide and in the way we recruit and support our team. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and identities, and we value the range of perspectives that a diverse team brings to our work.

We aim to make every stage of our recruitment process fair and accessible. Applicants are welcome to tell us about their own neurodivergence or lived experience in their covering letter if they wish, though this is entirely voluntary.

How to Apply

If you would like to join Action for Neurodiversity as a qualified counsellor, student counsellor or emotional support worker, please email your CV and a covering letter outlining your relevant experience, including any professional, personal or lived experience of autism or neurodivergence, your interest in working with us and whether you are available to offer face-to-face sessions at our Corby base, online sessions, or both.
